Manchester, New Hampshire, officials are doing something to make the largest city in New Hampshire, and the state capitol, a little easier to get around.

Catch a bird.  No, not a plane, but a Bird Scooter, the latest effort in Manchester to help visitors, businesses, and city dwellers get around more efficiently.   You can rent a Bird Scooter any time between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.

These scooters have tracking devices, so don't think about stashing one in your garage.  They're easy to locate around Manchester, and you can rent one on the Bird App or scan the bar code below to find a location.

According to the city of Manchester, NH Economic Development Facebook page, you can rent a scooter up to 30 minutes before you need it, which makes it convenient to schedule ahead.

According to npr.org, electric scooters are available in many cities.  "Electric scooters are hot right now. Lime and Bird, the two biggest companies, are valued at some $2 billion each. You can rent scooters by the minute from one or both companies in more than 100 cities across the country — from Abilene, Texas, to Tacoma, Washington...and in Manchester, New Hampshire".

The Bird Scooters are not new in Manchester.  They were launched in the Queen City in in 2021.

If you think you're going fast on the scooter, think again.  The maximum speed is 15 mph.
