Fall is in the air.  Halloween is just over a month away so it’s time to get working on your costume.  New Hampshire Magazine is reporting on a special group that participates in the parade in recent years called the “Monster Troupe.”  These members work nearly year-round perfecting their spectacular costumes which New Hampshire Magazine says are “somewhere between St. Patrick’s Day float and Macy’s balloon.”  Some of the costumes are 12 feet tall and as wide as the street with a host of volunteers operating the amazing props.

The parade occurs on Halloween night and starts at 7 pm.  The parade beings with a gathering at Peirce Island and Prescott Park.  This is a community event and there no registration fees or signups.  Just come as you are, or what you are.  One unique aspect of the Portsmouth Halloween parade is that it accepts not sponsorships and is not funded by the town.  Organizers hold a series of fundraisers throughout the year to help pay for the permits and police escorts.  So get your creative side together and start prepping a costume for this year's event.  The Portsmouth Halloween parade is so good it made the Travel Channel’s top 10.
