Following the news is a little scary these days not to mention depressing.  I see the COVID-19 case counts all over America and Europe on the rise but what about my specific area?  Turns out there is a tracker for that.  According to vitals.lifehacker.com, NPR teamed up with the University of Minnesota’s COVID-19 Hospitalization Tracking Project that gives you an easy way of looking at your specific county to see what the hospitalization rate is in your county.  It even shows you the percentage of patients that are COVID-19 related.

The link to the tool is at the bottom of this article.  For example, I just typed in Strafford County, NH and it gave me the data on hospital beds at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH, and Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH. It was nice to see the planes with the vaccine taking off yesterday and it’s like we finally have a light at the end of the tunnel when we can all get vaccinated and get back to normal, but it will still take a while.

This may be the hardest winter we have ever experienced as a country.  I like this tracker because it lets me know what’s going on not only in my state, my county but even my local hospital.  I hope I do not have to go to the hospital this winter, or ever really, but at least this handy tool can keep me informed.  Great reporting by vitals.lifehack.com on the partnership between NPR and the University of Minnesota’s COVID-19 Hospitalization Tracking Project.
