Two Men Face Arson Charges In Maine

(Perry, Maine) - The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office has arrested two men in connection with a house fire last year in Perry.

35 year old Scott MacNichol is charged with 2 counts of Arson and one count of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Arson.  36 year old Jeffrey Morrison was charged with 2 counts of Arson, one count of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Arson, Perjury and Insurance Deception.

MacNichol serves as a member of the Board of Selectmen in Perry.

Officials say the two friends were involved with a fire in April of 2014 that destroyed a vacant single family home owned by Morrison. The fire was set to collect insurance proceeds. No one was injured in the blaze.

Both men are free on bail and face court hearings on the charges.
