Believe it or not, almost every American shopper has spent money at one of these three retailers.

NBC News revealed new data from the NPD Group's Checkout Tracking Service, and it shows the largest percentage of Americans spent money at Walmart, McDonald's, and Target last year.

Ninety-five percent of us shopped at Walmart or purchased items from the company's website.

Walmart was followed by McDonald's at 89 percent, and coming in a close third was Target at 84 percent.

If you do the math, that means more than five in six U.S. shoppers made a purchase at those chains.
