No matter the time of the year in New England, New Englanders always have something in their car (and I am not talking about old food bags or trash). In the warmer months, a second outfit or pair of shoes may be found in the backseat or trunk of one's car, just in case they decide to go swimming somewhere or to the beach to cool off on a hot day.

We live in New England and we know that there are colder months. Fall and Winter can get cold pretty fast, sure the scenery is beautiful during these months, but it is a time that we need to sit in our cars a little longer in the morning to let it warm up before we drive off to work.

Of course, during any time of the year, it is important to have things like a phone charger and jumper cabled in your car but with colder months comes more items that can be found in a New Englander's car.

Below are 5 things that you may find tucked away in the trunk or backseat of someone's car.

1. Another Pair of Shoes

Why is another pair of shoes needed? Well, it's really a simple answer...snow. Many New Englanders will change their shoes and boots during the day, especially when going to the gym or work and there is snow on the ground outside.

2. Ice Scraper or Snow Brush

It is illegal to drive with snow on your car (roof and hood), so it is important to have a snow brush especially if you need to park outside when it is snowing. An ice scraper will help you get the ice off all your windows so that you can actually see while you are driving.

3. Sweatshirt or Sweater

It's cold. That's really all I should have to say, but you may want more layers when out and about in colder weather. Not to mention, that in the Fall you will most likely want a sweatshirt or jacket if you choose to go anywhere at night.

4. De-Icer or "Winter Washer Fluid"

Yes, I know that cars have heat and your windows will eventually defrost, but both of these items help to speed up the process so you can get to where you are going faster.

5. Gloves and Other Warm Winter Clothing

Let's be honest, it is so easy to forget a hat and gloves somewhere so having a spare pair in the car is nice. Other things like blankets and scarves also can sometimes be found hiding away in a car.

Obviously, you may find more items (like snacks) in a New Englander's car during the colder months (or any time of the year) these are just some of the things that you may spot.
