If you have been out and about in Rochester, like I have during recent months, no doubt you have spotted a bicycle rider that appears a bit different. He rides a blue bicycle with a rubber chicken horn but that isn’t what makes his bike so unique. It's tall. And by tall, I mean REALLY tall.  The custom ride is Will Capozzi’s own creation according to Fosters.com.  Will Capozzi, who is 37 years old, has never really grown up.  And we are all the better for that.

Per reporting from Fosters.com, Capozzi is a welder at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and his work is also his passion.  He said since he was a child, he was fascinated by taking things apart and putting them back together.  Inspiration struck him while watching welding videos on YouTube.  He came across a series called, ‘Tall Bikes Will Save The World.’  The rest is legend.

He put his tall bike together with parts of other bikes and improvised the rest.  He tells Fosters.com “During the major part of the pandemic when everyone was locked down, that’s when I finished it and the few people that were out, driving around or going to the store, they were in awe of it. It was cool to break the monotony of everything that was going on during lockdown.”  I have to admit, I did see Will on his tall bike one day during the lockdown and I had to do a double-take.  I was like “what the heck is that?”  And Will, if you read this, you brought a smile to my face and made my day.  Keep on biking.
