A Supervolcano Is Brewing Under New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont
While all eyes in the Unites States have been focused on Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano...Fox News is reporting that a supervolcano is brewing under New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
Rutgers University geophysicist Vadim Levin tells Fox; “Something is rising up through the deeper part of our planet under New England." He was also quick to point out however, the region is geologically stable. There are no active volcanoes.
So how soon might this supervolcano erupt, spewing molten lava across New England? Good news. Levin says it will "likely take millions of years for the upwelling to get where it’s going. The next step is to try to understand how exactly it’s happening.”
According to Fox News, Levin told National Geographic, perhaps the molten blob discovered under the region is too small and will never make it to the surface. He added, “Come back in 50 million years, and we’ll see what happens.”
