Did You See The World’s Largest Rubber Duck on the East Coast?
It's not exactly tubby time, because this enormous rubber duck will not be fitting in your tub, your house, or even on your property.
That's right, the world's largest rubber duck was on the East Coast this summer and if you missed it, that's okay...It may be returning.
You may be thinking to yourself, "Who the heck cares about a giant rubber duck?" Truthfully, I thought that at first.
Then I heard just how big it was, and my interest perked up a bit. This ENORMOUS rubber duck is six stories tall and weighs over 15 tons, according to a Greenwich Time article.
That is a whopping 30,000 pounds. And yes, it floats too. The enormous duck is valued at one million dollars.
And the story of how this duck came to be is awesome.
Craig Samborksi, the world's largest rubber duck creator, told The BayNet in 2023 that "the idea came from one of his colleagues he was drinking with while working as the president of the event company, SSE Entertainment," according to Greenwich Time.
"It’s really hard not to just look at the duck and be really happy, and just experience some joy, even if it’s just for a few minutes," said Samborski. "It’s a reminder of similar times when we were kids and we didn’t have the stress of adults."
The rubber duck was on display in Rye, New York from August 16-18, 2024, but that is certainly not the only time it will be on the East Coast.
Keep an eye out to see when the 30-pound duck will make its way back to the East Coast.
