Caribou, Maine Woman Prepares To Head Up To The International Space Station
In grade school when the teacher would ask "What do you want to be when you grow up?", some kids would say a teacher, some kids would say a doctor, and there was always that one who would say they wanted to be an astronaut. I wonder if Jessica Mier of Caribou, Maine was that kid in class! Jessica is a full-fledged astronaut and this Fall she will be embarking on the ultimate mission: a trip to space! She was selected as one of eight members of the 21st NASA astronaut class to spend six months at the international space station.
As you can imagine, a trip to space takes a great deal of preparation. Just thinking about peeing in zero gravity and eating space food for six months makes me anxious. I could never do it! But more power to Dr. Mier for taking the next step in her career and being offered this life-changing opportunity! I can't wait to hear all about her space adventures when she returns.
Would you travel to space if given the opportunity?
