Competition shows are nothing new on television. From Star Search to American Idol to America's Got Talent, these shows bring in big ratings and have produced some household stars in the process. But how do you get that big break? Those national competition shows have so many hoops to jump through. The answer could be as simple as staying right here in Maine and winning an American Idol competition happening in Vacationland this summer.

It's called Central Maine Idol and as you've already guessed, it takes place in central Maine. Similar to the concept of American Idol, there will be an audition process followed by a competition tournament that will be judged by a panel. The grand prize for Central Maine Idol? A whopping $10,000 dollars, which is nothing to sneeze at.

If you're interested in getting involved, auditions will be taking place at the Quarry Tap Room in Hallowell on Saturday, June 5th and Sunday, June 6th from 12pm-3pm. If you make it past the auditions, you'll want to free up your Monday nights, because the competition will progress from June 14th until the planned finale on Saturday, July 17th. You must be 18+ to enter this competition.
