Comic Book Lovers Rejoice, Event Coming to Rochester

The first New Hampshire Humanities event of 2021 will be presented by the Friends of the Rochester Public Library virtually this year entitled “Comics in World History and Cultures,” according to city officials.

I’m not much of a reader but my wife is a bookworm.  All my kids are readers and my wife credits comic books to my oldest son’s passion for reading.  She says, “any reading is reading, comic book or history book.”

History and the Comic Book

If you think comic books are just about whether you are a DC comic fan or Marvel fan you have so much to learn.  According to city officials, this event will take you back to ancient Rome, medieval Europe, feudal Japan, and even Nazi Germany to show you how influential comic books have been over the years and just how far back their history goes.

The Details

Officials state that this will be a virtual event due to pandemic precautions.  It is free and you need to register to attend.

You can get a registration link to the Comics in World History and Cultures by calling (603) 332-1428.

I encourage parents to attend this free event virtually with their kids.  You can find out just how important comics have been through the ages.  The Zoom event will be hosted by Marek Bennett on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00 pm.

The presenter, “Marek Bennett is a New Hampshire-based cartoonist, musician, and educator” according to city officials.

The event is the Tuesday after Election Day.  Don’t forget to vote!
