The 4th of July weekend is the last weekend with 10 fingers for some. That is the "joke" that gets made a lot...but it is not so funny when it's real. And it is real.

According to a USA Today article,690 people annually use emergency services from fireworks-related injuries on July 4th alone. And an average of seven people die every July 4th from a fireworks-related accident.

Firework Accident on Cape Cod Golf Course, Massachusetts

On Wednesday, there was a very scary fireworks accident, where one injured person was "thrown in the air" from the blast.

According to a WCVB News article, crew members at New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee, MA, were setting up for a 9 PM fireworks display when the fireworks started going off prematurely.

One technician for Pyrotecnico, the fireworks company that was in charge of the display, was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

"He had burns. That type of injury. We know that he was thrown in the air a little bit from the percussion of the blast," said Mashpee Fire Chief Joseph Peltier. The scary video is below.

People were seen sprinting from the scene, fearful for their own lives. And those who looked on, members of the golf club and locals, feared for their friends' and coworkers' lives as they heard screams.

But there was nothing to do but watch,  as there were fireworks exploding at ground level.
