There were three main goals of the gas-powered leaf blower ban:
1). To eliminate noise pollution.
2). To provide cleaner air.
3). To avoid harming plants and animal life.
Are gas-powered leaf blowers banned in New England?
No - not everywhere...yet.
The move by Cambridge could spark other towns and cities to follow. But many are not thrilled with the ban.
Many believe that gas-powered blowers have more power than battery-powered blowers. For large-scale yard clean-ups, landscaping crews, etc., that extra power is necessary to get the job done efficiently.
Other claims have been made about the noise.
Sure, a gas-powered blower is loud...but so is a battery powered blower. Maybe the battery-powered leaf blower is a tad bit quieter, but it is kind of like splitting hairs at that point.
What do you think? Should all towns ban the gas-powered leaf blowers like Cambridge, Massachusetts?
