Happy Birthday, Maine! ‘Vacationland’ Founded 198 Years Ago Today

'The Pine Tree State,' 'Vacationland,' 'The Way Life Should Be.' There are many ways that the Great State of Maine has been described over the years.

Today, Maine celebrates its 198th birthday. History.com provides a nice little background on the state that was admitted into the Union on March 15, 1820.

Some of the things I love the most about Maine have to be:

* The Outlet Malls in Kittery
* Yummies in Kittery
* Ogunquit, more specifically, Bintliff's Restaurant
* And of course, Nubble Light

How many of my favorites make yourlist of favorite things about Maine. I'm sure if you're a seafood lover, Maine lobster would be tops on your list too. But, since I don't eat seafood, I'll leave that one off my list of Favorite Things in Maine!
