We all know that traffic will be a hot mess this holiday week and weekend. It is par for the course. But according to Boston.com, avoiding certain roads at certain times could help you cut down travel time and stress on the roadways.

Well, the bad news is they are saying today, "Terrible Tuesday" is predicted by AAA to be the worst travel day of them all. Whether you are heading to the Lakes Region in NH or the over the Bourne Bridge to the cape, things are bound to be congested. If you can avoid travel between the hours of 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm, that could decrease travel time.

If you are headed south to the Cape, the HOV lane between Boston and Quincy will be closed today and all day for the 4th and will re-open on Thursday.

Also if you are driving the night shift and need a caffeine boost, The 18 MassDOT service plazas will have free coffee for you to partake in from 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, through 5 a.m. Thursday, July 5. How kind!

Wherever you are headed or if you are staying put, we wish you a happy and healthy fourth! I hope you get to celebrate our freedom surrounded by the people you like!
