Hey, I’m Getting A Hurricane Named After Me!

(Miami, Florida) - The National Hurricane Center has released the names for the 2017 Atlantic Tropical Storms, and "Don" made the list!

I have covered  heavy weather in New England for years, including the near miss by Irene a few years ago.  That's me at Hampton Beach, measuring wind gusts. They were strong, but not hurricane strength.

Here is the 2017 list of names for  Atlantic Tropical Storms :

Arlene, Bret, Cindy, DON, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irma, Jose, Katia, Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, Phillippe, Rina,  Sean, Tammy Vince and Whitney.

I am in good company. The names of my daughter, grandson and the White House Press Secretary are also on the list!

The list is recycled every 6 years, and will be used again in 2023.

Oh, and if your name starts with a Q, U, X, Y or Z, you are out of luck this year.
