Olive Pit Brewing shared on Facebook in May the unfortunate news about its upcoming closing.

Lisbon, Maine's first brewery, which had its grand opening in January 2022, has been serving up good times and good drinks for over four years, so it's no surprise to see the outpouring of support, love, and sadness in the numerous online comments about the unfortunate announcement.

Thankfully, the popular spot isn't immediately closing, so you've still got time to come in, grab a drink, and soak it all in for one last round.

When Is Olive Pit Brewing in Lisbon, Maine, Closing?

Olive Pit Brewing owner Christy Cain said in a Facebook post that, "We are living in economically challenging times that have forced us to make some difficult decisions."

That decision? Reducing its hours through the summer and closing its doors at the end of September.

Despite the disappointing news of Olive Pit Brewing's end, it sounds like it's going out with a bang by continuing to have a number of events and performances until then. So still some opportunities to cheer the place and enjoy it.

Olive Pit Brewing in Lisbon Is Maine's First 100-Percent Woman-Owned Brewery

According to Maine Brew Guide, Olive Pit Brewing is the first 100-percent woman-owned brewery.

The idea came from Cain and her wife, who had moved from New York to Maine in 2015, hoping to find less hoppy beer options, the Brew Guide reported.

The dog-themed brewery, named after their dog, Olive Roo, ultimately offered a wide spectrum of beers: "from white beers to reds, from fruity to sour, from dark to light, from mild to hoppy, we have something for everyone."

And the positive reviews from customers only further embedded the place as a part of the Lisbon community:

"Thank you for creating a wonderful space in Lisbon to enjoy a beer, hang with family, and enjoy music and events! We have a 4 year old and I love how family friendly this space is. It's always an enjoyable visit with great beers for parents and lemonade and board games for kiddos. This space is such a gem and worth the drive."

"Christy’s determination, imagination, good heart will be a positive contribution to her community! She’s self taught in craft beer making skills, wants to partner with local animal welfare & rescue organizations, provide a niche for those folks that enjoy less hopped beer, and provide some fun events that build community relationships!"

"This brand new brewery is such a treasure - delicious beer, spotlessly clean, beautiful interiors and dog friendly. I loved the Media Luna gose and the Hometown Moxie is a must try. I can’t wait to come back!"
