Quiz Time: Which One of These Maine Second Graders From 1973 is Patrick Dempsey?

He was just as cute as a second-grade Turner Elementary School student.

So can you recognize the Sexiest Man Alive, our very own Patrick Dempsey, in his best '70s outfit for picture day in 1973 at Turner Elementary School?

Any guesses? I actually was able to spot him pretty quickly. He was a cute kid. Patrick is the sweet kid in the front row (of course) with the super white socks third from the left.

Where did this picture come from? It was part of treasures opened as part of Turner's Century Box Jubilee. They opened two time capsules — called century boxes — from 1923 and 1973 at Leavitt Area High School, according to the Sun Journal. The items are on display at the Turner History Museum on the 4th floor of the Turner Library.

Young Patrick Dempsey went by Pat, and was also quite the artist. Drawings from the second graders were also included in the copper box. My favorite was Patrick's, of course.

I guess it seems logical he went into acting. When I took a trip up to see these items, it was an amazing journey of the last 100 years of Turner. Two time capsule boxes were opened, one from 1923 and one from 1973. Now they are gathering items to put into the copper box that will be opened in 2073!

I encourage everyone to check out the displays of items from 1923 and 1973. Not just for the Patrick Dempsey gems, but for a glimpse into a time when you could get a fried clam dinner for only $2.25. Everyone at the library was so generous with their time and helpful. You can flip through books, photographs, and newspaper clippings. It's very hands-on, and worth the trip.
