How to Avoid Getting Kicked Out of New Topgolf Location in Massachusetts

After makeshift Topgolf nights at Fenway Park in Boston happened in conjunction with the dating app Bumble earlier this year, New England finally has an actual home to its first Topgolf, after the Canton, Massachusetts, location opened this past Friday, November 3.

While indoor golf simulators have become all the rage lately all over New England and beyond, Topgolf just hits different and is a way for passionate golfers, golfing-wannabes, and someone who has never picked up a club before to all co-mingle in the same location.

While indoor simulators actually simulate a golf course, and one of the options at Topgolf can do the same as well, there are multiple versions of games that can be played at Topgolf, all while being fed delicious food and delicious cocktails either at the indoor bar or brought out to your outdoor area (warmed up by outdoor heaters for comfort.)

But, like any place, act a fool and you can be asked to leave and shown the door, like happened to this writer and his friends a few years ago at a Dallas, Texas, Topgolf location.

Back in 2019, I lived out in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and found out one of my friends was planning a "guys golf trip" out to Dallas, just four hours south of me. He and his two friends were taking different flights, and long story short, I met up with his two friends (who I had never met before ever) at a bar in Dallas while we waited for my friend, Travis, to show up.

But, he was delayed a couple of hours due to weather causing his flight to be re-routed, which meant I had a couple of hours of drinks (and little food) to calm my nerves hanging with people I didn't know while waiting for the one person I did know to show up.

Fast forward to when we all finally made it to Topgolf (via Uber), and another long story short, I probably didn't need the rounds of drinks we ordered. But, between keeping the nerves of being around new people calm and celebrating the reunion with Travis, I had the rounds I didn't need.

And, you can imagine, when you've had a few drinks and you're in a happy, joyful, mood, you get a bit boisterous. And loud. And, if you're like me, the way you show appreciation to your friends is by talking all the smack ever -- add a buzz to that, and it's way-too-loud smack talk, usually filled with sarcastic profanities.

SPOILER: Apparently, they frown on that in public settings.

So, when you make the trip down to Canton, Massachusetts, to take in New England's first-ever Topgolf location, enjoy it for the experience for a longer period of time than I did, and be better and smarter than me. You don't need all the rounds that I had but shouldn't have had, for Topgolf to be an amazing, enjoyable, super fun experience.
