Manchester Public Health Officials will pitch the idea to the powers that be on Monday night.

On a majority of issues involving public health and safety I can usually take a side and know my opinion right away.......but this is always a tough subject for me.

Narcan, which is the overdose reversal drug for those who have ingested too much heroin, may soon be available in Manchester Public Schools.

According to the Union Leader Manchester Public Health Director Tim Soucy will present school officials with the option to keep the drug on school premises during a Monday (3/14) meeting with city's Committee on Coordination/Administration.

I'm still not so sure where my opinion falls on this.  It's obvious that the drug is needed when a person overdoses- but at what cost?  What kind of message is that sending that the security blanket is always there?

Then I think about the fact that there are so many families who deal with a loved one battling substance abuse everyday.  How would I feel in that position?  Obviously I would want that person to have another chance at sobriety.

It's a tough subject.

The article has some grim statistics on the ages of those who have been resuscitated in the city in recent years.
