New Hampshire Labeled as ‘Best States for Military Retirees’ in Study

We have a lot of respect and pride for our veterans in New Hampshire.

As it turns out, the Granite State actually is doing more for their veterans than other New England states.

And we should. Veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice in our country, and the least we can do as a state is provide them with resources as our military retirees.

WalletHub conducted a study where they "compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia based on their ability to provide a comfortable military retirement," according to the study. "Our analysis uses a data set of 28 key metrics, ranging from veterans per capita to number of VA health facilities to job opportunities for veterans."

Again, New Hampshire did well. I'll get to New Hampshire's stats later. Other New England states did not do too well.

Maine ranked 39th in this study (a pretty bad ranking) despite having the second-highest veterans per capita in the entire United States. Perhaps the 39th rank could be attributed to the lack of veteran jobs.

Maine ranked 48th out of 51 for job opportunities for veterans. Again, bad ranking, especially because Maine is the state with the second most veterans per capita.

Vermont ranked 47th overall, Rhode Island ranked 41st, and Massachusetts ranked 18th.

• 19^th – Quality of VA Hospitals
