NH Mothers Rally To Raise Money For Funeral Of Toddler

In the face of tragedy, Newport has come together, and here's how you can help.

Days after 2 year old Sofia Van Schoick wandered out of her Newport home and was fatally caught in the cold, a group of mothers have organized a Go Fund Me page to support the Newport family, and to assist with funeral costs. Kimberly Caron told WMUR she was “Feeling heartbroken, being a mom, and it’s such a tragic situation.” Nearly 24 hours after the page was launched, they had nearly reached their goal. Even if the full amount of is achieved, they will keep the drive moving. Caron said "“We just wanted her to not have to worry about funeral costs or rent, just be able to take that time to grieve the loss of her child.”

Beyond that, the ladies are also collecting gift cards and diapers for Sofia’s twin brother, while they are making sure meals are delivered to the family every day. Teddy bears and candles have been placed near the steps of the Van Schoicks' home.
