Teen Driver Crashes Into New Hampshire Home After Police Chase
A 19-year-old driver is facing multiple charges after police say he led troopers on a chase that ended with his vehicle crashing into a home in New Hampton.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the incident began Tuesday on Route 104 in Meredith, near the New Hampton town line. Troopers say they attempted to stop Patrick Cameron Hamel for a tinted windows violation. Instead of pulling over, investigators say Hamel took off at high speed, passing other vehicles illegally as he tried to get away.
WMUR is reporting that Hamel eventually lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and slammed into a house in New Hampton. The crash caused significant damage to both the home and Hamel’s vehicle. No injuries to anyone inside the home were reported.
Troopers took Hamel into custody at the scene. He is now charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, reckless operation, conduct after an accident, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal restraint, and disobeying a police officer, the news station reported.
The crash remains under investigation, and police have not released details about why a child was involved or whether anyone was inside the vehicle at the time.
