Off-Duty Firefighter from Rye, NH, Saves Drowning Child in Orlando
It doesn't matter if Brandon Skoglund is on vacation with his family in Florida, he doesn't need to be on the clock to help someone who needs it. Brandon is a firefighter from Rye, New Hampshire and according to WMUR, he claims he is no hero. He was just "in the right place at the right time."
Brandon was on vacation in Orlando doing the Disney thing with his wife and two kids. It was their first day and they were hanging out by the pool when they heard the life guard blow her whistle and saw a man holding a 2-year-old boy who appeared to not be breathing.
Being a firefighter, Brandon is no stranger to having to react quickly in stressful situations. He immediately rushed over to the little boy and calmed down everyone around them. The boys mouth was full of water so Brandon patted his back until he was able to clear his lungs and get his breathing back.
Whether or not Brandon sees himself as a hero, I am sure the parents of this 2-year-old are grateful that he was in the right place at the right time.
