Teaching is one of those careers that should come with a huge “thank you” card every day, considering how essential teachers are in shaping the future of our kids. Sadly, many educators are underpaid and overworked, especially here in Maine, which WalletHub just named the worst state for teachers in 2024.

A new study shows that a large portion of the working population in Maine is overworked, exhausted, and depressed.

Based on six key criteria points, a small town of barely 1,000 residents was named the "worst" in Maine for 2022.

WalletHub did some serious number-crunching, comparing all 50 states and D.C. across 32 different metrics of quality and safety.

When I think of ideal states to work from home in, I think of factors like minimal noise, close to schools and stores, and not a lot of traffic. So how is Maine not among the top states to work from home?

We prefer "passionate".

The traffic pattern in this town has experienced minimal change over my lifetime.

Words cannot express how much we appreciate all the teachers out there. Unfortunately, one New England state is among the worst in the country for these educators.
