Someone said they should weigh you when you walk into the Deerfield Fair. Then weigh you again as you leave. Then charge you per pound for the weight you gained!

I've been to a lot of fairs over the years, but none as great as The Deerfield Fair. From top to bottom...it's truly awesome. From all of the animals, the displays, the thrill rides, and the activities...it's hard to beat The Deerfield Fair.

What really stands head and shoulders from every fair I've been to is the spectacular food. Sure, they have all the standard stuff that every other fair has. But then there's stuff that's uniquely New Hampshire. And there's stuff they just do better than anyone else at any other fair.

With that said...here's the three things you HAVE to eat when you go to The Deerfield fair:

Donuts. There's a wide variety of donuts scattered throughout the fairgrounds. But Betsy's Country Fair Donuts might be the biggest donuts I've ever eaten. Eating one of these beauties is like eating three normal donuts. All I can say is DELICIOUS.

More donuts.
I may have slipped into a food coma at some point because I can't remember which vendor these donuts came from. All I know is they're covered with maple frosting and crispy bacon. And they're SPECTACULAR.

Apple Crisp.
Junior Gardner himself swears there's no better apple crisp anywhere. And I'm inclined to believe him. This bowl was served piping hot with vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream. My only regret is that I'd eaten so much other stuff that I couldn't have a second bowl. Whatever you do...eat the apple crisp.

There's so much food that I didn't get to sample...but wanted to. Hopefully, they'll invite me back next year.

The Deerfield Fair is September 27 - September 30. If you need tickets, schedules, or more information click HERE.
