You can be on the Spaulding Turnpike, Route 4 and Route 16 at the same time. To further confuse, Route 202 and Route 11 are also one and the same as the Spaulding Turnpike at different points. What!?

As you can imagine, this proves a little confusing for out of towners. But as someone from these parts, even I'm not entirely sure where the Spaulding Turnpike begins and ends. When I need answers, I turn to Wikipedia.

In simplest terms, the Spaulding starts just off of 95NB exit 4 and by the Portsmouth Traffic Circle for those entering from the Route 1 Bypass and 95SB. I'd always assumed the Spaulding namesake ended in Rochester, but it turns out it actually runs all the way to Exit 18 in Union.

If you're still confused, you're probably safe just calling it Route 16!
