Officials are being coy about a proposed building in Salem. However, with blue exterior and measuring at 350,000 square feet, there are a few guesses.

While signs point to IKEA, it's not set in stone. According to the Union Leader, IKEA “is not a confirmed tenant of the project,” said Mark Hebert, vice president of development at Grossman Development Co., which is co developing the mysterious project. This would be the Granite State's first IKEA, as the closest active location is in Stoughton Massachusetts. Also according to the Union leader, an IKEA spokesperson said “at this time, there are no plans for a Salem store.”

Though still in the proposal stage, plans call for the project to be located at the intersection of Rockingham Park Boulevard and Mall Road, said Salem's planning director Ross Moldoff. Ross also expects plans to be filed by February or March for a retail store.

According to the article, Moldoff also stated “Anything can change until they sign on the dotted line.”
