Does Your Dog Really Love You, New England? Try This 6-Second Test!
We love our pets, and are especially fond our dogs, our best friend.
It's no secret dogs have expressions, and emotions, and the capacity to be especially fond...ok, love...their owners. Look into a dog's eyes and you can see a depth of emotion, good and bad.
If you are wondering how much your dog loves you, you'll be interested in this new study by The Kennel Club.
According to The Kennel Club, one way dogs show they care is by copying us when we yawn. This behavior suggests that dogs not only understand us, but are also displaying empathy for how we feel.
Dr. Brian Hare, from the Duke University Canine Cognition Center, adds that dogs who yawn in response to their owners likely have a stronger emotional connection to them.
The University of Tokyo found a connection too. Dogs are more likely to yawn after their owners than after strangers, supporting the theory of a deep emotional bond.
For dog owners curious about the connection with their pets, yawning in front of them can be an interesting experiment. This simple test went viral online, and is an easy trick to find out if your dog has feelings for you.
It sounds too simple, doesn't it?
My only thought is, as we all know, yawning is contagious in humans. If someone is yawning in front of you, you tend to yawn too. That doesn't mean you have feelings for the other person, it just means you are involuntarily mimicking their behavior.
Could the same be true for dogs, or is this research correct? Try it and you can make up your own mind.
