Dover Standoff Suspect To Appear In Court Today
(Dover, NH) - A Greenland man will face a judge today after a 7-hour standoff with police in Dover last Friday morning.
35 year old Richard Nelson Junior eventually gave himself up after he refused to leave a vacant apartment on Pleasant View Circle despite police using tear gas and flash-bangs to force him out.
Police say he had earlier broken into a nearby apartment at Addison Place and stole a rifle and cell phone. He then entered the vacant apartment where he stayed for 7 hours before surrendering.
Nelson will be arraigned today on felony charges of Burglary, Armed Career Criminal and Being A Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, along with several misdemeanor charges.
