Martina McBride appeared today on CBS This Morning to express her feelings on the recent survey of Country music which led to a radio consultant making comparisons to male and female singers as lettuce(males) and tomatoes(ladies) in a salad.

"You have record companies that don't invest in female artists or sign female artists as much, thinking that they're not going to get a return on their investment or get played on the radio. You have songwriters who aren't writing songs for females as much, because they 'don't get played on the radio.'"

The article in Country Aircheck Magazine which started the dust up last week should be read in its' entirety.  I have been in  Country music radio for over forty years and witnessed many shifts in trends from traditional to the current "bro-country".

As long the songs have relatable lyrics and have high production standards I'm a fan, and yes,  I would like to hear more female voices on the airwaves.

Like the vinyl records and CD's we used to play...the business goes round and round in cycles.
