New England Pickup Truck Drivers: Massive Recall on Popular Truck
Not great news for truck drivers here in New England...and there are many of them.
Ford has just recalled nearly one million F-150s from the years 2021-2023.
The issue, according to a car and driver article, was "filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) (and) describes a problem in which the rear axle wiring harness may come in contact with the rear axle housing. Over time, this contact could cause the tape and circuit insulation to wear down and expose the wiring underneath, leading to a short circuit. Owners may see a parking brake warning light illuminate, along with an instrument-panel message about a problem."
To put it in lemans terms, owners of the Ford F-150 could experience a problem with unintended activation of the parking brake.
Okay, that would NOT feel good while driving. Picture yourself cruising on the highway, going 70 miles per hour. Then BOOM, you feel like you got into an accident because the parking brake went on automatically. That sounds horrific.
If you are a visual learner, check out the explanation of the recall below:
The wild part about this recall is that many owners do not even know it yet.
Owners will be notified starting on September 11.
As of today, Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused because of the recall issue.
So, New England truck drivers, if you drive an F150 between the years of 2021-2023, get that thing checked out ASAP.
Ford owners can visit the NHTSA recalls website to determine if their truck is included in the recall.
