If you are a New England kid you've had the pants scared off you a few times at Spooky World and the radio/tv commercials from the '90s are seared in your brain.

Just take a look at this one below:

It’s the jingle for me. 🎵America's horror theme park. Spooky World.🎵

According to Nightmare New England, Spooky World opened in Berlin, Massachusetts, in 1991.

The original SCREAM park (get it? Instead of theme park?) featured haunted houses, sideshow attractions, celebrities and a notorious haunted hayride.

The park was relocated to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts in 1998, according to Nightmare New England, and from there it bounced to a few other locations.

It wasn’t until 2009 that Spooky World found its current home in Litchfield, New Hampshire.

According to the people of the New Hampshire subreddit group, no shade to the current Spooky World, but there was nothing quite like the OG Spooky World in Berlin, Massachusetts.

I was just getting here, and by that, I mean being born, in that timeframe, but I have a hunch that rules were a little more lax back in the early '90s when it came to what you could get away with in a haunted house.

What was the result? Some light trauma, but mostly a whole lot of FUN.

Rumor has it some big-time celebrities made cameos at the original Spooky World back in the day. Singer Tiny Tim performed in the mid-90s.

A core memory for many is visiting the gift shop barn! Apparently, they had extremely scary masks that you could buy and scare the living daylights out of other kids in your neighborhood. Those kids are now spending a pretty penny on therapy just so you know.

Spooky World may have made some changes over the years, but we can still take our kids and enjoy a little slice of nostalgia when we go.

Are you a Spooky World fan? What other haunted houses/scream parks do you like to get into during the spooky season?
