Police originally located the dog wrapped in a blanket inside a trash bag in the bed of a pickup truck.

A gruesome story continues to unravel in Rochester. According to the Portsmouth Patch, police received a call last October 3rd advising them there was a deceased dog in the basement of a residence. Authorities were told that Michael Jouvelakas of the property had just left. However, the caller thought the dog was shot and that Jouvelakas was still armed. Police located Jouvelakas and spoke to him while other officers inspected the residence. Police found the dog in the bed of a pickup back at the residence, wrapped in a trash bag. By then, the dog's cause of death was not obvious, but it did show signs of undernourishment, and more investigation was needed. Jouvelakas was taken into custody on an unrelated charge of driving after revocation/suspension. During the investigation, police learned the dog, Mandy, a 2-year-old pit bull-type dog appeared to have died due to issues starvation related issues.

Monday, Portsmouth Patch reported police were looking for Jouvelakas. However, Rochester PD has reported that he has turned himself in. Jouvelakas was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled for arraignment on March 30 in Rochester.
