How long can we call it "new"?   The answer is "as long as we want", considering the old carousel was from 1914 on the beach in this northern Massachusetts town.

Last summer Salisbury Beach welcomed a magical new addition to its vibrant coastal community—a beautiful, hand-crafted carousel housed in a year-round building. This exciting attraction has become an iconic symbol of the beach's ongoing transformation, blending nostalgic charm with modern convenience.

So much planning and fundraising went into finding the right carousel and constructing the permanent building.  The original ride was in operation from 1914 to the late 1970's.

The goal was to find a classic, antique carousel to replace the original. According to salisburybeachcarousel.org,  the 1909 Looff-Mangels Carousel was a lucky find in Pennsylvania, with its original 44 hand-crafted carvings.  It's now forever home on Broadway on the beach.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, the carousel invites you to experience joy, wonder, and a sense of timeless fun.  There are 3 rows of animals and benches carved by the same artisans who created the original Salisbury Beach carousel.

What truly sets this carousel apart is its versatility as an event space. From weddings to birthday parties, family reunions, baby showers, and more, the carousel’s vibrant yet nostalgic setting provides a unique backdrop for any celebration by the sea.

Unlike traditional seasonal attractions, this new carousel and its beautifully designed building remain open throughout the year. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the thrill of a carousel ride no matter the weather.

With its warm, enchanting atmosphere, it promises to keep the spirit of summer alive even in the heart of winter.
