Take “cage diving with Great White Sharks” officially off my bucket list.

Another day, another Great White Shark sighting, another beach closure on Cape Cod. This one 50 yards off Nauset Public Beach.  The Summer of the Shark has me shook.

I must admit I am a wimp when it comes to Sharks. They are the stuff of my nightmares. I used to love swimming in the Ocean and my wife would get mad at me for swimming farther out than she would.

She isn’t scared of shark attacks; she would always be scared of rip tides taking me out too far. She wants to take her kayak out there!!! No more for me.

I won’t even go in over my ankles.

According to petapixel.com, this video, that dates from 2016, is my number one reason why.

In 2016, off the coast of Mexico, a Great White Shark BROKE THROUGH THE SHARK CAGE with the diver STILL IN THE CAGE.  This is terrifying.

The power of this top predator is astounding.

Fortunately, the diver was quick thinking and escaped out of the bottom of the cage when the Great White entered it, waited for the shark to find his way back out of the cage and then the diver came back up through the cage unscathed.

After seeing this video from petapixel.com I think it’s safe to say that there is no such thing as a ‘shark-proof’ cage.

And these creatures are swimming just offshore.  I think I am off to see if anyone I know has a swimming pool.
