The Most Painted Building in America is in This New England Town
I have lived in New England for nearly 30 years and never knew the most famous painting spot in America was here.
The official "title" is that this is the most painted building in America, according to a New England.com article.
At first glance, you may think, "This looks like any coastal New England building..."
But maybe that is what makes it so beautiful and unique to outsiders.
This building is famously known as Motif No.1, found in Rockport, Massachusetts.
The old fish shack was built in 1840 and housed fish, supplies, and other essentials for the town of Rockport which was established the same year, according to Essex Coastal Scenic Byway.
The building later became a meeting place for the US Naval Fleet that docked in Rockport, MA, according to New England.com.
For artists, both beginners and experienced, this is a building begging to be painted.
And no, it is not just the building that is perfect to paint...
Artists love painting the boats, the coast, the water, the buoys hanging, the imperfections of the nearly 200-year-old building, and so much more.
And it is the surrounding areas and pop of color that make it perfect for beginner artists, experienced ones, impressionists, and other types of artists.
