There are a lot of skiers in New England, but perhaps none as tenacious as Massachusetts native, Noah Dines.

Dines, who grew up in Bedford, MA, just broke the record for the most vertical feet skied in a year.

The original record was set in 2016 when Aaron Rice skied 2.5 million vertical feet in a single year, according to a WCVB News article.

While driving home from a bad date, Dines decided 2024 would be the year to break the record and ski over 3 million vertical feet.

How tall is 3 million vertical feet?

That would be like climbing the Empire State Building...2,000 times.

And you may be thinking, well, he gets to use a chairlift....nope. He does not. Dines does it all with his two feet.

Dines skied well over 300 days this year; however, if you are from New England you know that we don't have 300 days of snow. The Massachusetts native had to follow the snow to break the record.

That search for snow took him to Utah, Chile, and Europe over the year - along with New England ski slopes of course.

One of the things I found most interesting was his method to distract himself. A lot of people listen to music while skiing, or at least while hiking up a mountain if they are not using a chairlift.

Dines often skied with friends, to keep himself distracted. On the days when he skied alone, he would talk to friends and family over the phone while hiking, skiing, and crushing the world record.

Congrats to Noah Dines of Massachusetts for this super unique, and epic world record.
