Another shooting in Paris
France's interior minister is asking people not to jump to conclusions following today's shooting on the southern edge of Paris that killed a police officer and gravely wounded a street sweeper. Officials say the policewoman was stopping to investigate a traffic accident when an assailant opened fire, hitting her and the street sweeper. Authorities say today's shooting has not been linked to Wednesday's terror attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which left 12 people dead, including two police officers.

Officer's rifle turned in
Salem police say they've recovered a rifle that fell off a cruiser as an officer drove out of the police station parking lot. Police say the officer placed a black canvas bag containing the rifle on the trunk of his car while he prepared for duty Tuesday. He didn't notice it was missing until eight hours later. Police say a good Samaritan found it and turned it in.

Lewiston man to make court appearance this week in murder case
Lewiston,Maine police say they've arrested a man in connection with the death of his infant son last month. Police say Danny Adams likely will make his first court appearance today or tomorrow on a murder charge. Authorities say 3-month-old Zade Adams died of asphyxia.
